The Native American LINK, Inc.
The Native American LINK, Inc. ministry began in 1998 and continues to provide active ministry opportunities for our Native American women in our Baptist work. LINK is an acronym for Living In Neighborly Kindness, based on the scripture, Luke 10:27: Jesus answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.” The Native American LINK, Inc. is a Baptist ministry designated to help women strengthen family life, preserve cultural identity, and develop personal skills. It is primarily a women-to-women approach. It may link women from one tribe to another, from one church to another, non-Indian to Indian, older women to younger women and those with specific skills. It is a non-profit corporation 501(c)(3) funded by individuals, churches and missions-related organizations. Approximately 70% comes from individuals, 13% from churches, 14% from Baptist organizations; 3% from miscellaneous sources. From this ministry has evolved the Native Praise Choir. The choir currently has 53 choir members, representing 17 tribes. Through this gathering of ladies, opportunities are open to share their faith through music, drama, art, teaching, education, and mission service. The choir has traveled extensively throughout the United States, and has ministered in England and Ukraine. |
