What blessings to be with the ladies at Ardmore Indian Baptist Church last night! I was honored to be asked to speak at their first gathering for the purpose of honoring and recognizing the Empowerment of Women of God. Made a new acquaintance with Lisa Spikes, who invited me. How wonderful to see Nadine Lewis, a former LINK board member, and Native Praise singer. My joy continued as I was with Rubye McMillan, a member of our Native Praise Choir. Thank you for the invitation.
"O, taste & see that the Lord is good"
This verse is going to stay on my heart for many days, I'm sure. I'm returning home after attending our Women's Retreat, sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. We had 21 representing LINK, although it was good to see more of our Cherokee and Creek Native sisters attending, also. Call it what you'd like, but I received a booster shot for my spiritual walk. I left there, & went straight to a hospital because God told me to do so. Thank you, God, for allowing me to share the plan of salvation to my cousin. Thank you, God, that she said yes to Jesus! O, taste & see... Just getting home after a trip across OKlahoma to be with my Western Oklahoma Christian sisters. This is Thelma Kauahquo, one of my strong warrior sisters who works hard for the Lord. Also was able to see my younger Christian brother & sister, Dylan Mateo & Tusa Scraper, who did a great job as musicians for the conference. It was a great day
Since I last posted, the Native Praise Choir has been blessed to sing at Ada, OK First Indian Baptist Church for their Sunday morning worship on 3/26/17. We also enjoyed being with Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City on 3/31/17 for their Celebration of Culture Chapel Service. We always enjoy going to new locations to share our music ministry.
April promises to be a busy month, also. On Saturday, 4/8/17 (tomorrow), I (Gus) will be speaking at the Western Oklahoma Women's Conference at Weatherford Indian Baptist Church. It will be good to return there. We had a LINK VBS team at Weatherford a few years ago. Looking forward to seeing my Western OK friends. |
